Theraplay is designed to support healthy child / caregiver attachment which is believed to be the basis of lifelong good mental health and emotional regulation; building resilience in the face of adversity. Modern brain research has shown that attachment is the way in which children come to understand trust and thrive in their world. The foundation for lifelong emotional health and resilience is centred on a child's relationship with the main caregivers in their life. We aim to ensure that healthy relationships should provide moments of engagement and nurture, as well as safely structured opportunities to experience challenge.

By offering Theraplay informed skills, children are able to process and begin to understand their behaviours, emotions and feelings which may appear confusing and worrying to them. They can learn to build and promote improved attachment relationships moving forward.

Using Theraplay informed skills can be beneficial to children who are experiencing worries or concerns such as:
Shy, angry or withdrawn behaviour
Anxious attachment styles - struggling to feel secure in their relationships, fear of abandonment, low self-esteem
Problems at school or difficulty interacting with their peers
Having a history of trauma or neglect, abuse or attachment issues
